Our Vision Statement

Springfield Friends Meeting invites all people to witness the love, message and power of the living Christ. We encourage fellowship, forgiving friendships, discipleship, personal holiness, and obedience to Scripture. We affirm that all believers are ministers to one another, our community and the world.

A meeting for worship was first held at Springfield in the year 1773.  The five acres of land where the meeting house now stands were purchased in 1786 for the sum of five shillings.  On May 1, 1790, a Monthly Meeting was set up at Springfield by New Garden Quarterly Meeting.  A second meeting and larger meetinghouse was built at Springfield in 1805.  A third house was begun in 1857; and completed in 1858 at a cost of $1,114.67.  This building, still standing, houses The Museum of Old Domestic Arts which is visited annually by groups and interested individuals.  The present meetinghouse was constructed in 1927.
